“If everything is going right, we should hold the session on August 1,” Amien told the press following heading a meeting between MPR leaders, the Ad Hoc committee, and a special committee today (21/6).
The meeting discussed the plan to expedite the special session, but the participants of the meeting agreed to start the session on August 1, 2001 as long as the political condition is stable. It is expected there would be no significant change due to the political condition. “So, it is an open-ended decision,” Amien said.
Amien said that there is no plan to expedite the special session yet, as the MPR Working Committee has the authority to make such a decision. “The MPR Working Committee is an institution that represents 11 factions in the MPR and will decide whether bringing forward the special session is important or not,” he said.
