IMF Representative Recommends Extension of IMF-Indonesia Cooperation

Citrin continued that whether or not such arecommendation is approved depends upon the IMFExecutive Board. It is the responsibility of theBoard to make a decision on this matter, so its up tothem, Citrin said.
As reported yesterday, Indonesia will extend itscooperation with the IMF until the end of 2002.
According to Citrin, the one-year extension would besufficient, but he did not offer any furtherexplanation about why he figured such a period wouldsuffice.
In relation to the fourth Letter of Intent (LoI) thatis currently being discussed by Indonesias economicteam and the IMF, Citrin said that so far there was nocertainty as to when the LoI would be signed.
According to Syafrudin A. Temenggung, the assitant ofthe Coordinating Minister for the Economy, thecooperation extension aims to assure a sustainablefiscal policy.
