Inflation in West Nusa Tenggara at 11,10 per cent

Inflation rate in West Nusa Tenggara Province so far this year is at 11,10 per cent, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported on Tuesday. The Agency's office in the province recorded the inflation level at 14,05 per cent compared to the inflation level in August 2007, passing the targetted 6,5 per cent.

In July the Inflation rate in the province had reached 10,51 per cent, compared to the 13,89 per cent level a year earlier.

“The inflation was caused by the rise in food price,” said Head of BPS in the province Mariadi Mardian on Tuesday. There are 20 consumer goods in the province which pushed the inflation to the level including eggs, filter cigarettes, fish, rice, and sugar, the only commodity that recorded decline on its price index was clothing.

Housing, electricity, water, gas and fuel price index rose by 0,69 per cent in August, transport, communication, financial services by 0,43 per cent, healthcare by 0,42 per cent, education tourism and sports by 0,38 per cent.
