TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo will keep doing persuasive approach to residents of Pluit reservoir. Jokowi claimed that the relocation is the best solution for the residents. "What we do is relocating, not evicting. We provide a solution, and eviction is not the solution," Jokowi said at the City Hall on Tuesday, August 27.
Jokowi added that the relocation in Pluit may raise tension and possbly end up in violence. "It is important for the police to be persuasive," he said. "I wouldn’t know if there was violence because I wasn't there."
Residents of Pluit Reservoir, North Jakarta, reported the Jakarta Administration to the police on Tuesday, August 27, because local residents assumed that Jokowi lied after a violent eviction takes place.
