TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) promoted Jakarta by increasing investment with ASEAN members. According to Jokowi, Jakarta has potentials that could be developed towards 2015 free market.
"There was a talk for investment in informal sectors yesterday," Jokowi said after opening the 'Meeting of The Governors and Mayors of the Capitals ASEAN' event at the JW Marriot Hotel on Wednesday, September 18, 2013.
Jokowi explained that informal sectors such as micro scale trade and tourism in Jakarta can still be developed. He admitted that he does not want to talk about investment in a macro scale. "We focus on tourism and education, and also how to reduce traffic jam," said Jokowi.
Jokowi added that investment between ASEAN countries have positive values in welcoming the free market, so that they can improve economic sectors between them, because there are a lot of developed countries that are interested in entering ASEAN market.
He also said that physical and labors investment must also be prepared, "Jakarta must be prepared in welcoming the foreign market surge," he concluded.
