TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo said he would personally deal with the planned relocation of residents from the Ria-Rio reservoir. The governor said he was bullish his arrival at the reservoir to talk to the residents would solve the problem.
“I’m sure the problem will be solved when I arrive,” he said at the City Hall on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
Jokowi made the statement in response to the recent walk-out by residents of the Ria-Rio reservoir during the draw of the Pinus Elok low-cost apartment at the hall of Pulogadung sub-district office on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
The residents said the walk out was a protest against the unclear explanation as to which parts of land have been acquired by PT Pulo Mas Jaya for the expansion of the reservoir and which ones have not. They also said the money the government offered to compensate for their lands was not sufficient.
