TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo said he would furnish existing residents of the Pinus Elok low-cost apartments with new facilities. Jokowi hoped there would not be jealousy between the existing residents, including those relocated from the Pluit Dam area, and new residents from the Ria Rio Dam area.
“We will furnish their units with the same facilities,” Jokowi said while inspecting the Pinus Elok low-cost apartments and giving aids to its residents in Cakung, East Jakarta on Thursday, October 3, 2013.
During his visit, the governor checked a number of units at the apartment building's second floor, which had already been filled with new, free of charge furniture. Tempo saw in the two-bedroom units two spring beds, a single-door refrigerator, a fan, a gas burner, and a gas tube.
The capital’s Housing Agency chief Yonathan Pasodung said the facilities in each unit worth Rp6 million in total. He added the budget to purchase the facilities stemmed from charities of private companies as opposed to the regional budget.
Kusriti, 50, an ex-Pedongkelan resident who had just moved to her new dwelling at the apartments, said she was happy living there. “I’m happy. Moreover, where else should I live after the relocation? My husband has passed,” she said while cooking.
