TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - DKI Jakarta Governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has formed a monorail team to ensure the project will continue as he does not want the mass transportation project to be delayed, as was the case in 2008.
"There are three aspects to be supervised, which include legal, financial, and technical," said Jokowi following the official groundbreaking ceremony of the monorail at the Tugu 66 Bridge in Kuningan, South Jakarta, yesterday.
The team headed by the Regional Development Agency, and also involves the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department, is assigned to supervise the project run by Jakarta Monorail. Jokowi said he would sign an approval for the continuation of the project worth Rp15 trillion following his inspection of the financial status of its investors.
Jakarta Monorail president commissioner Edward Soeryadjaya ensured the project would continue and is backed by sufficient funds as the company has partnered up with Chinese state-owned firm China Communications ConstructionCompany Ltd.
