TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - If Megawati and Jokowi compete as president candidates from Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), a survey result of Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) shows that Jokowi will out outperform Mega.
A researcher of Indonesian Survey Institute, Rully Akbar, revealed that Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo is far more popular than the party's chairman, Megawati Sukarno Putri. "There are several factors that make Jokowi more superior," he said when contacted by Tempo.
In addition to higher electability, Jokowi develops his political image more often Jakarta and Indonesian citizens. Jokowi also develops PDI-P's image. Meanwhile Megawati's political image is considered stagnant. "She is merely a symbol of PDI-P," Rully said last week.
He opined that the occurrence of the two names proposed as president candidates was a sign of PDI-P's indecision. On one side, Jokowi's electability is higher. On the other hand, there is an unwritten requirement to be a president candidate from PDI-P. "The final decision is on Mega's hand," said Rully.
