TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of Jokowi National Secretariat Dono Prasetyo said the lawsuit against Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo that the New Jakarta Adocacy Team planned to log at the Central Jakarta on Wednesday, March 19, was a black campaign.
“That is a black campaign orchestrated by his competitors because they fear him,” Dono told Tempo on Monday, March 17, 2014.
Dono said he had been detecting bad signs from Jokowi’s competitors since the Jakarta governor announced his running for presidency last week. These people, he added, were terrified and began to attack Jokowi by criticizing and speaking ill of him.
He said the attacks were part of the attempts to coerce Jokowi to exit the presidential race. “But we are solid and we are set to support Jokowi. We have prepared our arguments and advocacy team,” he said.
Head of the New Jakarta Advocacy Team Habiburokhman, meanwhile, dismissed Dono’s allegation. He said the lawsuit was instead a form of support towards the governor that he would choose to continue his reign in Jakarta, citing that Jokowi had displayed a fine performance by far.
“I hope Jokowi does not get ensnared in the political interests of some particular groups that want to use him. Keep his promises to Jakartans first,” he said.
