TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The presidential candidate from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Joko Widodo a.k.a. Jokowi, started his campaign yesterday with blusukan (impromptu visits) style at Kota Gajah market, Punggur, South Lampung. He arrived at the market at approximately 10:00 am local time. Once he got off the car, he was immediately surrounded by residents who were visiting the market.
"Don't forget to vote for number four," he told the residents who were surrounding him at the market, Saturday, March 22. During his visit, he was accompanied by Lampung Governor and Deputy Governor candidates, Berlian Tihang and Muchlis Basri. They handed out t-shirts that say JKW4P (Jokowi for President) to the local residents.
Lestari (45) hoped that Jokowi could make new changes, especially in the infrastructure sector. She hoped he could repair Jalan Punggur, Lampung, that is already heavily damaged.
After walking for around 500 meters while greeting residents, he went to a bakso (meatball soup) stall. He then ate bakso with his entourages. Jokowi's arrival at Kota Gajah market had caused quite a traffic jam around the market.
