TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inspected the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) construction site at Dukuh Atas and was welcomed by PT Mass Rapid Transit director Dono Bustami.
He observed the project location which is still mostly in form of mounds. Dono then showed the design of station to Jokowi. "It will be like this later when it's finished. There will be green open spaces," Jokowi said as he showed the design to reporters on Tuesday.
Dono said that the station will be completed in 2017. He claimed MRT construction has been progressing. "We do the progress simultaneously in several spots. From Lebak Bulus to HI. Now, we are digging for the station," he said.
According to Dono, after the groundbreaking is done, the project is continued with drilling in 56 spots for retaining walls with depth of 15 meters. "There will be a PLN station that must be dismantled." The large-scale construction will be carried out April next year.
Jokowi is optimistic that the project will not slow down anymore. "It will be finished. No need to be pessimistic," he said.
