TEMPO.CO, Pacitan - With only eight days left to the nation’s legislative elections, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle [PDI-P] is focusing its campaigns on regions with a large number of Golput [abstainers] and undecided voters.
“We focus on places with the most number of undecided voters,” said Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, the Jakarta governor and presidential candidate of the PDI-P.
Jokowi said most of the undecided voters were youngsters. He added the party had taken measures to woo the youngsters by, among others, optimizing the use of social media. “These undecided voters and abstainers mainly consist of youngsters, so we will focus on utilizing the social media within these last eight days,” he said.
The Jakarta governor said yesterday he would make a televised appearance to respond to similar moves his political competitors had made earlier. He said the TV campaign would only be aired for three to four days.
