TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo had asked businesses in the capital to be more charitable. He said that social issues can be overcomed if businesses often implement their CSR programs.
"I think if one or two businesses like to share more, problems can be solved," said Jokowi on Monday, May 26, 2014.
According to Jokowi, social problems are not only the government's responsibility but also businesses because they have more assets. "But not all of them [are willing to share] because it has to come from the heart," he said.
Jokowi applauded Tahir, CEO of Mayapada Group, who gave free treatment for children with cancer, adding that other businesses should do the same.
