TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Elected President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has promised to expand public participation space through the internet. "In the future, we will open massive public participation space, either via mail, Facebook, Twitter, and others," he said, after meeting Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Jokowi claimed that Zuckerberg offered him with a public discussion space, in relation with Jokowi's initiatives on 'e-blusukan'. "He has offered the government and ministries to utilize Facebook, along with its facilities. However, we have not yet decide," Jokowi said.
Zuckerberg also said that he is planning to assist Jokowi's administration to increase the number of internet users in Indonesia. Zuckerberg said that he is proud that Facebook has 70 million users in Indonesia, and that it can help provide job vacancy, build business, communicate, and make innovation.
