TEMPO.CO, Beijing – Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called Indonesia a “strategic partner” during a bilateral meeting with President Joko Widodo during APEC Summit in Beijing.
“Both countries have built mutually beneficial relations. Japan considers Indonesia as a strategic partner,” said Abe on Monday, November 10, 2014.
According to Abe, as fellow maritime states, Indonesia and Japan must support each other. Japan is also committed to investing in the industrial and human resources sectors.
Jokowi welcomed Abe’s commitment, saying Japan and Indonesia were like brothers. “Cooperation can be enhanced and expanded so that both countries can gain benefits,” he said, adding that Indonesia still needed investments in the manufacturing sector.
