TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - International Law professor at the Indonesia University (UI), Hikmahanto Juwana, said he was looking forward to seeing President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to speak in Bahasa in his speech at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in China. 

"It will be great if Jokowi speaks in bahasa. Otherwise, he will be no different from SBY [former president Yudhoyono," he said on Sunday, November 10, 2014. 

Hikmahanto said that according to Article 28 of the Law on State Flag, Language, and Symbol, the president, veep, and state officials are supposed to use Bahasa in their official speeches at both domestic and international levels.

"Does Jokowi as president abide by the law?" said Hikmahanto.

The APEC Summit held on November 10-11, in Beijing, China is the first international forum the attended by Jokowi as the country's president. Afterwards, Jokowi is slated to attend the ASEAN Conference in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on November 12-13, and the G-20 Summit in Brisbane, Australia, on November 15-16.
