TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo has agreed to inaugurate Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama as the capital's governor. Besides Ahok, Jokowi is also slated to inaugurate a number of regional heads, including of Yogyakarta.
“Not this week, but Jokowi agreed to inaugurate [him],” said Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo on Monday.
Tjahjo claimed he did not know the exact time and venue for Ahok’s inauguration. Jokowi, during a plenary meeting on Monday, only asked Tjahjo to look into every possibility for the inauguration. Tjahjo said one of the possible venues for inauguration is the State Palace.
State Secretary Pratikno said he would coordinate with the Home Affairs Ministry on the inauguration. The time will be adjusted with the ministry's schedule and the presidential protocol. “It will be clear soon,” said Pratikno.
Djohermansyah Djohan, the director general of regional autonomy at the Home Affairs Ministry, said the presidential decree on Ahok’s inauguration as Jakarta governor would be signed by the president soon. “I have monitored and re-checked. The decree will be processed today,” said Djohermansyah on Monday.
After the decree is signed, Ahok will then be inaugurated by President Jokowi the next day. The decree will consist of two decisions. The first was about Ahok’s dismissal as Jakarta deputy governor, while the second was his appointment as Jakarta governor.
