TEMPO.CO, Ambon – President Jokowi said he would pay special attention at eastern Indonesia. In 2015, Jokowi plans on constructing a series of infrastructure projects in Papua, West Papua, Maluku and North Maluku, among them a sea-toll maritime project.
“Eastern Indonesia greatly needs the 'sea-toll road' so that logistics can arrive at their destination on time. We will start next year,” said Jokowi on Monday.
Jokowi said Indonesia’s eastern and western regions had distinctive features, which was why the central government would specifically focus on eastern Indonesia. Sea-toll road development would be prioritized because it connected the all of the country's regions.
Besides the sea-toll project, Jokowi would also build railway in Papua. “So, we don’t only focus on 'sea-toll road',” said Jokowi, adding that infrastructure development would be conducted in eastern regions to improve access to them.
