TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo is Google Indonesia's most searched figure in 2014, the search engine giant announced
"A search is a reflection of what people think is important," Google Indonesia consumer marketing manager Sandi Tantra said on Tuesday. According to Sandi, 'Jokowi' was the most searched keyword in 2014, which was an election year.
Coming behind 'Jokowi' was 'Prabowo', followed by 'CPNS 2014', 'ISIS', and 'Sakitnya Tuh di Sini'. The keyword 'MH370' and 'Ebola' were also among the top ten most searched keywords in 2014.
According to Sandi, trending topics in each country are affected by the citizens' habits and preferences. Google predicts that Indonesia will see knowledge-related topics becoming a trend next year, as indicated by the high number of searches about the ebola virus in 2014.
