TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Triawan Munaf, the newly-appointed head of the Creative Economy Agency, is targeting to increase the sector's contribution to the GDP by 200 percent.
"Right now it is at seven percent of the gross domestic product, we must increase that by two-fold in a few years," Triawan said.
Triawan is confident that the target will be achieved given the sector's vast scope. "It could be achieved through a number of strategic measures that we must start composing now," said Triawan.
One way to do so, he said, is by determining leading sub-sectors that are already more developed, such as the film and culinary industry.
President Joko Widodo yesterday inaugurated Triawan as Head of the Creative Economy Agency. Triawan is a musician from Bandung who joined the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and became a member of Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla's success team when the two ran for office.
