TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Presidential chief of staff Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said President Joko Widodo would join a rehearsal for the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) anniversary event on Thursday, April 16, 2015. Jokowi is slated to leave for Bandung from Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase in Jakarta at 10:30 a.m.
“Pak Jokowi will be accompanied by the event's committee. Ibu Puan (Puan Maharani, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture) will reportedly come, too,” Luhut said at the State Secretary compound on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.
Luhut said the president would check on the airport, hotels, and mosques in Bandung that would be used for the event. According to schedules, Jokowi would arrive in the West Java’s capital on April 23 to welcome invited dignitaries—a day before the event kicks off.
Luhut explained a rehearsal would also take place in Jakarta on Saturday, April 18, 2015, and that 95 percent of the preparations for the event had been completed. He added the Indonesian military (TNI) and the National Police had prepared 26,000 joint personnel—some 9,000 among them from the police—excluding additional troops.
Luhut said 70 countries had thus far confirmed their attendance for the AAC—thirty of them represented by heads of state.
