TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo said his speech at the much-anticipated Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) anniversary event in Bandung would not be a normative one, but rather a message for the world.

“What I will convey in my speech is not something normative, casual, but instead a strong message, particularly on a new order, global balance, global justice,” Jokowi said after attending a limited meeting on the AAC at the presidential office on Friday, April 17, 2015.

The president said global balance was a message the United Nations (UN) had failed to pay much attention to today, thus Indonesia should play its role through the AAC in underscoring its importance, along with another message on global justice.

The Presidential Staff Office’s second deputy on the management and study of priority programs, Yanuar Nugroho, said the president’s speech text had not been completed yet, but assured it would revolve around the significance of a new world order that was fair and balanced.

“The AAC and the AAC anniversary event send a strong message that we need a new world order that is fair and balanced, so that the AAC is not just a normative event, but delivering a clear message to the world,” he said.

Yanuar said the global balance comprised economic solidarity, politics and culture. He added the speech was composed collaboratively by teams from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the State Secretary, and the Cabinet Secretary.
