TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 shook a number of areas in Bali Province, including Nusa Dua, Denpasar, Tabanan and Jembrana, on Tuesday morning at 07:18. The earthquake had no potentials for tsunami.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Denpasar, the quake epicenter lies at 9.11 south latitude, 114.54 east longitude, and with a depth of 68 km occurred. It was 83 km southwest of Nusa Dua, 84 km southwest of Jembrana, 89 km southwest of Denpasar , 90 km southwest of Tabanan, and 917 km southeast of Jakarta.
"School students in Jembrana Regency ran outside. Everyone panicked, including teachers," said a citizen resident of Jembrana Regency, Irfan.
Antara reported that the earthquake was felt as far as Lombok. Residents rushed out of their homes because the earthquake was very strong.
Parents checked with their children's schools, fearing aftershocks. "I have to check on my child, the earthquake was quite long," said one parent in Karang Bedil.
