TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), Edi Sukmoro, said his corporate would expedite the reactivation process of four inoperative train routes in West Java this year.
“The four routes are Bandung-Ciwidey, Cibatu-Garut-Cikajang, Banjar-Pangandaran-Cijulang, and Rancaekek-Cijulang,” said Edi after inaugurating a connecting bridge in Batu Ceper Station, Tangerang, Thursday, July 18.
He explained the revival program is part of the state-run railway operator’s effort in supporting the central government to enhance train service and encourage people to use public transportation instead of private vehicles.
People living in those regions, he added, would be easier to reach big cities such as Bandung and Jakarta by utilizing the train.
Besides, the reoperation of the railways is expected to boost the regional economy in line with the increase in choices of transportation mode.
