Anies Baswedan Clarifies Registration Fee to Host Formula E

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan did not deny that the city administration paid the registration fee to host the 2020 Formula E. The governor said the income and outcome cannot be separated.
“So there is no way that an event has income without outcome, isn’t it?," said Anies at the City Hall, Central Jakarta, Friday, July 19.
Anies balked at exposing the price the city administration must spend, yet ensured he had obtained the economic assessment from the organizer committee.
According to him, the cost construction would be completed at the end of August this year. “But we won’t release it yet,” he added.
Tempo’s source at the City Hall revealed that Jakarta administration paid around 100,000 euro or Rp1.4 billion to accommodate the street race. “It turns out, [Jakarta] has to pay to be the host of Formula E,” said the person as quoted from Koran Tempo newspaper’s of Tuesday, July 16 edition .
Previously on his Instagram account, Anies Baswedan claimed to have successfully closed a three-month negotiation with the CEO and the COO of the electric car race, Alexandro Agag and Alberto Longo. The event's team even visited Jakarta to run a field inspection on July 8-9, 2019.
