Nunung Pretends to Buy Jewelry when Purchasing Shabu, Police Say

22 July 2019 10:47 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police said that comedian Tri Retno Prayudati, popular as her stage-name Nunung, pretended to buy jewelries when she was in fact buying drugs. Nunung, a former member of popular comedy group Srimulat, and her husband July Jan Sembiran were arrested at their home on Friday, July 19.

The couple had with them 0.36 grams of methamphetamine, which was confiscated by the police as evidence.

According to Metro Jaya Police's head of narcotics division, Ad. Sr. Comr. Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak, Nunung and drug dealer Hadi Moheryanto a.k.a. Tabu pretended to be transacting jewelries when in fact she was buying shabu, the Indonesian slang for methamphetamine.

Tabu was arrested not long before the police came to Nunung's house. Tabu said he had just delivered 2 grams of shabu to Nunung.

When the police arrived at her home, Nunung flushed the two packages of the drugs into the toilet. But the police found a leftover packet weighing 0.36 gram along with other evidences including four mobile phones.

The comedian said she bought the drug for Rp1.3 million per gram and that she had purchased shabu from Tabu six times.

The latest information from the police said that Nunung has been consuming drugs for around 20 years. The police plan to release more information about the case today.
