TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Refugees temporarily accommodated at a former building of the West Jakarta military command (Kodim) in Kalideres took part in several games to commemorate the 74th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day.

Among the games held during the event were the sack race, egg and spoon race, and cracker eating contest.

"This is my first time to witness such an event on Independence Day. Such tradition was not followed in my country," Reza Hasini, a refugee from Afghanistan, stated here on Saturday.

Hasini expressed gratitude to the Indonesian government for its assistance and for organizing the event to entertain the refugees.
