Jakarta Police's Firearms Storage Catches Fire

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police firearms storage in Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, caught fire on Tuesday morning, August 20. The flare engulfed the 4x3-meter basement room, said Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono.
According to him, the room was being renovated, so there were not many goods secured in the place. “The room contains unused items such as shooting gloves, old bayonets, and logistics packaging boxes,” said Argo in a phone call this morning, August 20.
Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency head Irwan explained the haze was first seen at 05:30 a.m. and his agency received the report at 06:00 a.m.
A total of 13 fire trucks were dispatched to extinguish the flare and succeeded at 07:50 a.m. At present, the cooling down process is still ongoing.
There is no report yet regarding the loss and the cause of the fire in the police’s firearms storage room.
