TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan called on Jakartan to be ready to face drought that is predicted to hit most areas of the capital. He also demanded all to use clean water wisely.
“All people have to save water, regardless of the activity,” said Anies in Jakarta, Thursday, August 22.
The governor also requested the public to manage the water drainage properly, so used water could be reused as much as possible for other needs.
“Use waterways to manage water, so it can be used again,” he said.
Anies added that his administration is currently drafting a gubernatorial instruction related to water control during the dry season.
The bylaws have been completed on August 6 and will be released shortly.
“If the regulation is ready, we will announce steps the government will implement to anticipate prolonged drought in Jakarta areas,” Anies said.
Previously, South Tangerang Climatology Station II of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of drought for areas of Banten and Jakarta because of the low potential of rainfall in the two provinces.
