KPK Seizes Hundreds of Million in Raid against Indramayu Regent

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Agus Rahardjo said his side suspected Indramayu Regent Supendi involved in the illegal transaction related to the regency's Public Works Agency project.
“We are still calculating around one hundred million,” said Agus in a written statement, Tuesday, Oct. 15.
As of date, the anti-graft body has nabbed eight people from the sting operation against the newly-appointed regent on the early hours of Tuesday.
“We have so far secured eight people. Five of them have been brought to KPK, and three others are still on the way,” Agus added.
He detailed that the eight people are Regent Supendi, his aides, officials, partners, and the agency head, as well as the Public Works Agency officials.
The five suspected people who have been detained in the anti-graft body headquarters include Supendi, who is undergoing an intensive examination. Based on the Code of Criminal Procedure (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours to determine their status.
“We will announce the result later through a press conference in KPK,” Agus concluded.
