5.1M Earthquake That Jolts Nias Sends People Panicking

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 jolted Nias Island, North Sumatra, Tuesday night, November 12. The tremor sent people into panic, rushing to escape from their homes.
Rawati, a resident from Gunungsitoli City, claimed to have shocked when her house shook quite strong, so she ran to the street and met neighbors experiencing the same.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced that the quake occurred at 06:42 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The quake source was at 0.87 degrees of north latitude and 97.41 degrees of east longitude, at 12 kilometers southwest of West Nias Regency, North Sumatra, at a depth of 22 kilometers.
The tremor was felt throughout the island, including Gunungsitolui City, Nias, North Nias, South Nias, and West Nias.
There were no potentials for tsunami and no report on casualties and damages caused by the natural disaster to date.
