TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of state officials held a meeting for talks of the capital city relocation in the National Development Agency (Bappenas) office, Friday, November 15.
Attended the session was Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Human Development Muhadjir Effendy, Legal and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly, and Bappenas head Suharso Monoarfa. Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan also presented.
Based on Tempo’s observation, the meeting that was commenced at 09:15 a.m. was held in private.
The meeting was reportedly aimed at harmonizing the draft bill on the authority agency for the new capital preparation, relocation, and construction, as well as the continuation of the construction project in the future capital.
The government previously stated that it had designed plans for the capital relocation from Jakarta to Kutai Kartanegara and Penajem Paser Utara, East Kalimantan. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo during a state speech on August 16 mentioned that the project will require an investment of up to Rp466 trillion.
During a discussion with Forum A1 in Menteng, Jakarta, yesterday, Jokowi again stated his intention to move the capital that he deemed necessary to realize economic equality.
The master plan of the new capital city project reportedly will meet for completion at the end of this year, while the construction of basic facilities will be kicked off mid-2020.
