TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police have named 18 suspects in the suicide bomb attack at the Medan City Police Station in North Sumatra Province on Wednesday.

The suspects were currently being interrogated at the Mobile Brigade Command Station of the North Sumatra Provincial Police, Chief of the North Sumatra Provincial Police Inspector General Agus Andrianto said Saturday.

"They all have been named suspects and include men and women," he said at the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Medan, capital of North Sumatra Province. While investigating further into the case, the National Police's Counterterrorism Squad Densus 88 in cooperation with the North Sumatra Provincial Police seized items of evidence including firearms, pointed weapons, a series of bombs and several explosives.

"They all have been seized from one of the locations in Sicanang," he said.

The joint team will investigate further to trace other suspects in the suicide bombing, Agus added.

"We will continue to chase this network to proffer a sense of security to the public," he said.

The suicide bomber, believed to be a 24-year-old male, identified by his initials as RMN, blew himself up at the Medan City Police Station on Wednesday, November 13, resulting in injuries to six people, though no fatalities were reported.

Shortly after the incident, the police searched the suspect’s house and questioned his wife and her parents. The police officers confiscated some pieces of evidence, including two green baskets containing dozens of arrows, a pole, and some documents.
