MRT Jakarta Targets 173,000 Daily Users by 2023

18 November 2019 13:11 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The city’s mass-rapid transit operator, PT MRT Jakarta announced that it is eyeing to transport 173,000 passengers on a daily basis by the year 2023.

PT MRT Jakarta Director of operations and maintenance, Muhammad Effendi shared the firm’s optimistic target at the Lebak Bulus Depot on Saturday, November 16.

“There are 65,000 passengers on a daily basis currently. We hope to increase that to 100,000 passengers in 2020,” said Muhammad.

The target aligns with the MRT on-time of arrival averaging 99.86 percent since it operated in March. This is one of the many factors he described would be able to lure people to use public transportation.

Effendi also explained that PT MRT Jakarta also continues to focus on other aspects to further improve the transport’s service quality, such as its safety aspect, service procedures, supporting infrastructures, ticket sales, and many convenience factors supporting the operation of the mass rapid transits.
