TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir said that President Joko Widodo or Jokowi will issue a new regulation aiming at giving SOE commissioners a bigger role at their jobs.
"One of the programs to manage 124 state-owned companies is by giving bigger roles for commissioners, such as what is being done by Garuda Indonesia. So, these commissioners will have the competency and work actively," kata Erick told Tempo at his office in Jakarta, today, December 7.
According to the minister, managing 124 state firms is not an easy task. He, therefore, wanted assistance since the very first of his office term to change the current system. One of the supports is by appointing two deputy ministers.
Erick has previously chosen two SOE commissioners, namely Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok as Pertamina chief commissioner and Chandra Hamzah as BTN chief commissioner. He chose the two based on their background in the legal sector.
