KPK Holds Anti-corruption Film Festival

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held an anti corruption film festival (ACFFest) 2019 as a part of the series of activities in commemoration of the World Anti-Graft Day in Jakarta's Ciputra Artpreneur on Sunday.

The anti-graft body (KPK)'s spokesperson, Febri Diansyah, said  films, songs, poems, tales, photos, comics and similar artistic products are important in bringing anti-corruption values through art.

"We believe that touching hearts and opening minds through this approach can be one of the strategies in preventing corruption, especially when the films produced come from the realities in their respective communities. Hopefully, in the future, there will be more creative processes engaged in this anti-corruption issue," he said.

In the midst of efforts to eradicate corruption, joint consolidation and strength have become more important.

"The ACFFest 2019 will be held in two sessions. The first one will be for the screening of four ACFFest 2019 finalists, movie discussions with director Gina S Noer and photo exhibition. It will go on from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm local time," he said.

The second session will be held from 6:30 to 10 pm local time. There will be awarding sessions and the screening of the best and favourite films, Nation's Tale theatre show with Garin Nugroho as the director, Cornelia Agatha, Asmara Abigail, Endah Laras, and Mia Ismi Choir.

A series of ACFFest 2019 activities began on May 28, 2019. All incoming proposals were assessed by a jury whose members included scriptwriter and director Jujur Prananto and Yandy Laurens.

The jury determined the 10 best films from the submissions that are entitled to receive production funds and assistance in the process of making films including the selection of talent.

Before the production process, participants whose movies had been chosen had to take part in a movie camp and coaching clinic for three days from 9 to 11 September in Jakarta. During the session, the participants were invited to dissect their respective film scripts and directing techniques that would be used together with the KPK and the jury, Jujur Prananto and Kamila Andini, said Febri.

Furthermore, participants were given time in the range of 12 September to 25 November to carry out the film production process until completion.

"At this stage, the participants also got online editing facilities and mentoring of local mentors in their respective regions during the film production process," he said.
