5.0M Earthquake Strikes Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake measuring at 5.0 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the southwest of Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta at 10:47 a.m. on Monday, December 9.
As reported from the official website of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the quake had no potential of a tsunami.
The agency outlined that the quake epicenter was located at 126 kilometers southwest of Gunungkidul. “It occurs at a depth of 10 kilometers with no tsunami potential,” the BMKG noted on Monday, Dec. 9.
The tremor was felt in Bantul, Wonosari, Wates, and Sleman which categorized at II MMI level without significant damages.
