TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) chairman Prasetio Edi Marsudi said the Djakarta Warehouse Project or DWP music festival generates profit for the capital. According to Prasetyo, the annual event mostly held in the city booked high revenue from the ticket sales.
“Commission C members will be tasked to monitor the financial report,” Prasetio said at the city Parliament Building, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, December 11.
Prasetio balked at commenting about the rejection voiced by local mass-organization called GPI (Islam Youth Movement/Gerakan Pemuda Islam). Another group Gerakan Pribumi Indonesia also staged a protest against the event before the city hall on Wednesday.

One of the protesters Aimar delivered a speech, calling for the event to be halted as it was against morality and customs value. They demanded governor Anies Baswedan meets promises to shut off places filled with immoral practices.
The rally coordinator Haris said his side is ready to block road access to the music venue if the event will still be held. This year’s electronic music festival is set to take place at JIExpo Kemayoran from December 13-15, 2019.
In 2017, the DWP event also received many rejections from Islamic organizations but was defended by Sandiaga Uno, who at that time served as deputy governor. Sandiaga even said his daughter was a fan. According to him, such an event must be supported as it could boost the country's economy.
