Tax Revenue from 2019 DWP May Reach over Rp10bn: Jakarta

13 December 2019 12:05 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta Tourism Agency predicted that the city’s tax revenue from the Djakarta Warehouse Project or DWP music festival will reach over Rp10 billion.

The agency acting head Alberto Ali said the estimated figure was calculated based on the last establishment of the electronic dance music event in the capital in 2017.

"This year, the income from the tax sector will likely be higher because of the three-day event and the high ticket price too," Alberto said on Thursday, December 12, adding that it is often held for only two days.

The 11th music event will be held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta on December 13-15, 2019.

Alberto detailed Jakarta’s revenue in 2017 from food tax amounted to 10 percent or Rp2.5 billion, while from the entertainment tax, it reached 25 percent or Rp7.5 billion.

According to Alberto, the ticket price ranges from Rp650,000 to Rp1.4 million excluding tax of 25 percent. "So we believe this year's tax revenue will increase," he said.

Jakarta is set to hold the 2019 DWP despite a series of protests staged by mass organizations. Alberto said that such a large-scale, international art event attracts both domestic and international tourists, which will generate profits for the city economically.
