The accident was reportedly caused by the brake failure. The container truck with police number B 9766 UO was driven by Ahmad Humaidi (21).
Based on the surveillance camera and a footage Tempo obtained, the truck was entering the rest area at a high speed. It turned to the direction of the gas station and then crashed to the left. The container hit the cars parking there.
General Manager of toll road operator Jasa Marga at Purbaleunyi, Pratomo Bimawan, said in today's press release that the evacuation of the container was executed this morning, January 18.
By using two cranes with 45 tonnes capacity, they expected the evacuation would complete this afternoon. "The rest area operates normally during the evacuation process," Pratomo said.
