Immigration Admits Bribe Suspect Harun Masiku Has Returned Home

22 January 2020 15:43 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Law and Human Rights Director-general of Immigration, Ronny Sompie, admitted that bribery suspect Harun Masiku, who briefly fled overseas, has, in fact, returned home to Indonesia.

“There was a delay in processing the traffic data of Soekarno Hatta Airport’s Terminal 2 F as Harun Masiku arrived,” said Ronny in a written statement on Wednesday, January 22.

Following this revelation, Ronny said he has ordered the head of Soekarno-Hatta airport’s class 1 immigration office and the immigration directorate-general to investigate the incident. He also announced that a travel warrant has been issued against the PDIP politician.

“The results will be directly reported to me,” he said. “As ordered by the KPK leader.”

Tempo Magazine’s January 18 edition entitled "Harun di Pelupuk Mata Tak Nampak" revealed the whereabouts of Harun Masiku through a CCTV recording from the Soekarno-Hatta Airport which proves the PDIP legislator-candidate arrival in Indonesia on January 7, 2020.

The sub-20-second video obtained by Tempo showed Harun, wearing a long-sleeve navy shirt, walking last in line with a group of passengers in a travelator. Harun had officially been on the run after escaping a KPK sting operation on Wednesday, 8 January 2020, after he is allegedly incriminated in a bribery case related to his candidacy.
