TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said the plan of relocating Indonesian capital city from Jakarta to East Kalimantan is aimed to change the mindset and work patterns of the people; not just about moving buildings or location.
"What we want is a change of mindset and work pattern; we're not [only] planning to move out buildings and location," he said at the defense ministry headquarters, January 23, as reported by Antara.
According to the president, a new system and culture are important for the nation that prioritizes the speed. "In the future, there will be no issue about big country defeating small country or the rich over the poor," he remarked
He said that a big country will defeat a small country and a developing country will be left behind a developed country.
In front of 500 participants of the meeting of the defense ministry, military, and the police, Jokowi said that the capital relocation can be a stepping stone for Indonesia to become a developed country.
President Joko Widodo also mentioned that the transportation system in the new capital city will be all electronic and automatic.
