Committee Wishes to Have BTS at Jakarta Formula E

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The deputy director of communications of the Jakarta Formula E Organizing Committee, Hilbram Dunar, wished to have South Korean pop band Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) at the racing competition for electric cars, which was slated to take place at the National Monument or Monas on June 6, 2020.

Hilbram said the organizing committee had submitted a proposal to the event’s brand ambassador directly. "But until now [they] have no schedule to visit Indonesia," Hilbram told Tempo on Monday, January 27. 

Earlier, BTS has officially been appointed global brand ambassadors for the ABB FIA Formula E Championship 2020. The seven-member boy band has released its latest concert tour schedule dubbed the BTS Map of The Soul Tour. However, Indonesia was not included in the tour destination.

In its official announcement published by ibighit.com, the concert tour will begin on April 11, 2020, in South Korea. The group will then perform in Japan, the United States, Canada, UK, Germany, and Spain, among others.

The Korean pop superstars fans dubbed ARMY in Indonesia are also hoping for their idol visit considering the group has an empty schedule on June 13 and 14, 2020. Although the schedule has been released, Hilbram still hoped it could be revised and Indonesia was included as their tour destination.

"Who knows [the schedule] will be changed because this [Formula E] is the first in Indonesia and the only one in Southeast Asia. If they have a concert here, who knows that [they will perform here]," Hilbram said.
