TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, also known as Ahok, will launch a book titled "Panggil Saya BTP" (Call Me BTP) in the Tempo Ngobrol event, on Monday, February 17, 2020. The book chronicles Ahok's diary during his time in Mako Brimob.
In his book, Ahok bluntly revealed the collapse of his marriage with ex-wife Veronica Tan. "That was conveyed during the trial. I didn't want to get divorced,” Ahok said, as quoted from the 17-23 February 2020 edition of the Tempo Magazine.
Ahok officially divorced Veronica on April 4, 2018. Ahok, the current President Commissioner of PT Pertamina, sent a divorce suit against Veronica Tan to the North Jakarta District Court through his legal counsel, Josefina Agatha Syukur and Fifi Lety Indra, on January 5, 2017.
Fifi explained that the breakdown of Ahok and Veronica Tan's marriage was caused by the presence of a third person in the marriage.
The divorce trial was first held at the North Jakarta District Court on January 31, 2018. The trial took place nine times before a verdict was reached.
Ahok claimed that the psychologist who read his diary also considered the divorce process to be one of the lowest points of his life. "But, through a long struggle, I finally made a decision."
