TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In his visit to one of Indonesia’s most outer regions in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Democratic Party deputy chairman Agus “AHY” Harimurti Yudhoyono responded to the possibility of participating in the 2024 presidential election.
“I don’t want to assume too far. I would like to better prepare myself in carrying the tasks that, god willing, lay ahead of me,” he said on Tuesday in responding to talks slating him as a future presidential candidate.
The eldest son of Indonesia’s sixth president Susilo “SBY” Bambang Yudhoyono claimed he is currently still focused on obtaining people’s aspirations across Indonesia, along with a number of political party consolidation.
AHY also commented on the Democrat Party’s preparation and his personal support for party members participating in the 2020 regional head election that will simultaneously be held in 270 regions.
Despite being absent in Indonesia’s core government, Democrat Party cadres are spread as regional heads and legislators.
“I hope I could give them my full support,” said AHY.
