TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Action star Jackie Chan was rumored to have been placed under quarantine after he was suspected of having caught the coronavirus or COVID-19. Jakie's fellow A-listers, actor Eric Tsang and singer Alan Tam, were also mentioned in the rumors.
According to Today Online, suspicions of these stars being infected began after a video surfaced online showing them partying with Hong Kong police officers Then, on February 21, the police confirmed 59 officers had been placed under quarantine after attending the event—a retirement party of an officer who later tested positive for the virus.
According to health officials, four officers, the infected policeman’s wife and mother-in-law are displaying symptoms of the illness as well.
Rumors then started spreading on social media, suggesting Jackie and friends were at that very same banquet, which means they may have been placed under quarantine as well.
But many said that it was not true. “Jackie Chan and the Commissioner of Police were not at the same gathering, it’s a different one,” one post stated.
Further investigations showed that it was the case, as the two events took place at different locations. The infected officer's party was at a seafood a restaurant in Hong Kong's Western District, while Jackie and co. were 30 minutes apart at the Yau Yat Chuen Garden City Club in Kowloon.
