84 Medics, Including 2 Pregnant Women, Test Positive for COVID-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta COVID-19 task force in a video conference announced that it has recorded 84 medical workers who have tested positive for coronavirus, with two among them currently pregnant.
“Two of the medical workers are pregnant,” said Dwi Oktavia, head of Jakarta health agency’s disease control and prevention on Wednesday, April 1.
Moreover, Dwi announced that one medical staff in the city has passed-away after testing positive for the virus. The team also received reports of two Jakarta-based medical-specialists who have died after contracting the virus, both of who were working in hospitals outside of Jakarta.
This adds to the list of medics exposed to coronavirus from 81 people as of March 31, to 84 people just one day after.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that the sheer number of medical workers exposed to the coronavirus shows the great risks they face in treating COVID-19 patients. He also previously asserted that medics need to be provided by sufficient protective equipment (PPE) at the forefront of the battle against the pandemic.
