State-Owned Enterprise Holding Drafts New Normal Protocol

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned enterprises (SOE) insurance holding PT Bahana Pembinaan Usaha Indonesia (Bahana PUI) is preparing 'The New Normal' protocol in the midst of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

"In accordance with the State-Owned Enterprises Minister, all state-owned enterprises have been requested to prepare a protocol to anticipate The New Normal in the midst of Covid-19 according to each business field," said Bahana PUI Director Robertus Bilitea in an official statement on Saturday, May 23, 2020.

Robertus added that the nee normal protocol scenario will focus on the application of Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) and will be enforced based on official instruction from the Covid-19 Mitigation Acceleration Task Force or from the government.

Robertus said that Bahana PUI has applied a series of special protocols to initiate the new normal scenario during this time of pandemic in accordance with State-Owned Enterprises Minister letter No. S-336/MBU/05/2020 concerning The New Normal Anticipation Scenario. The formulation of the scenario has been conducted by the Covid-19 Task Force to protect and to prevent the spread of coronavirus to business partners, employees, and other stakeholders.

Robertus added that Bahana PUI will immediately will formulate and draft a scenario to implement The New Normal for the Insurance and Security business sector, capital market, and investments as inputs for the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises in applying policies in the future.

The move is a bottom-up approach conducted by the Ministry to ensure that the policy can be actually implemented.

Bahana PUI Financial and General Director Rizal Ariansyah, ensured that Bahana PUI as a holding company and its subsidiaries will carry out business activities within The New Normal accompanied by adequate protection and health protocol that focuses on the company's employees' and client's health and safety.

"Since the appearance of the pandemic the Indonesia, as one of the industry exempted from PSBB application, Bahana PUI has taken preventive steps to protect its workers and clients from the Covid-19 threat, which is tailored with Covid-19 mitigation protocol in each region," Rizal explained.

Rizal informed that the protocols that have been implemented, among others is the use of face masks by the company's employees, using thermo gun to detect employees' and clients' body temperature, providing hand sanitizers, limiting the number of elevator passengers and routine spraying of disinfectant.

"Bahana PUI had also applied the work from home concept and split teamwork for a number of employees, specificially for non-critical work units, in accordance to government suggestions," Rizal said.

Bahana PUI, Rizal added, is prepared to support efforts to recover the economy and ensuring the continuation of insurance and warranty services, along with capital market operations.

Bahana PUI and its subsidiary has been disseminating information about The New Normal scenario to its employees, clients, partners, and supplier through social media channels.
