Angkasa Pura Reports Increase in Airline Flight Frequency

2 June 2020 12:26 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The airline traffic in airports managed by state-airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I had reportedly increased on Monday, June 1 since the operations of a number of air carriers reopened. The commercial flight frequency in 16 PT Angkasa Pura managed airports saw 361 flights as of Monday.

“So far from reports on the ground, there are increases in the number of passengers compared to previous days,” said Angkasa Pura I corporate secretary VP Handy Heryudhitiawan to Tempo on Monday.

The flight schedules amidst the COVID-19 pandemic consist of 38 exempted flights, 89 cargo flights, and 234 regular flights. This is a significant increase compared to the total flights on the previous day of 152.

Handy recalls that most of them are flights heading to the International Juanda Airport in Surabaya with 60 flights and the least are headed to Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport with 18 flights. The government’s restriction on domestic flights will last until June 7.

The exempted flights are strictly opened for passengers that meet the strict health requirements set tby the government. Passengers allowed on such flights are state-employees, private sector, and businesspeople on work-related trips and emergency flights such as repatriations of Indonesians abroad or related to the handling of COVID-19 cases.

Moreover, Angkasa Pura I continues to remind future passengers to adhere to health protocols from the moment they step foot on an airport until they board the airplanes.
